| Virtual Tours – Your Questions Answered
What is a ‘Virtual Tour’?
A virtual tour is a collection of panoramic images giving a full 360 degree view of a place or room. By linking several panoramas together you ‘create’ a virtual tour.
How does a virtual tour differ from still images?
The main difference to the viewer is that the virtual tour presents a full 360 view rather than a flat single image.
How can virtual tours affect marketing of products and locations?
The internet is fast becoming a media for buying and selling products and for viewing facilities, objects, locations and property before making a decision to purchase. Buy using virtual tours the viewer can make a more informed decision about whether to purchase, or in the case of property whether to commit valuable time in ‘going to view’.
What is the value of a virtual tour?
Statistically websites that include virtual tours attract more clients who will stay on the site 5 times longer than sites without tours. Also many companies and individuals will not book hotel rooms unless they can view a tour of the facilities first. A company can gain a competitive advantage over its competitors by using a advertising its virtual tours.
What makes VR360 different from the competition?
We use at least eight images to produce each panorama to ensure there is no distortion ie straight lines are straight. Using high compression ratios we can condense our tours to sizes, which makes them easily downloadable. Our viewers are also all viewable direct from the internet with no additional software or plug-ins required.
Other companies producing virtual tours use 1, 2 or 4 images, which makes panoramas look like they are being viewed from a bubble. They also do not give the client the choice of viewer size or surround, taking a ‘one size fits all’ attitude.
